The renovation and adaptive reuse of the historic, 17-story former Texaco office building located at 101 Marais Street, New Orleans, Louisiana created 112 affordable apartments for senior residents. Designed in 1951 by the architect Claude H. Hooton, the building is an early example of the "International" style of architecture found in Louisiana. It featured a steel structure and an enamel-coated steel curtain wall exterior which allowed for open, flexible interior space with minimal interior columns. The property features 12 studios and 100 one-bedroom units. Each unit includes the following: self-cleaning oven with range, dishwasher, refrigerator with icemaker, microwave, carpet, and wood blinds. In addition to the residential units, the building offers a community room with kitchen, multi-purpose room for entertaining, computer room, on-site laundry facilities, controlled access entry, gardening terrace, fitness center, and an on-site beauty salon.
